  The aromas of this wine are so wonderful with blue fruit, blackberries and black tea. Ample violet undertones. Medium to full body, very fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish.

  There are some spicy and smoky aromas in the 2017 Susana Balbo Signature Malbec, which matured in oak barrels, 30% of them new, the rest second use, for 13 months. It comes from Altamira and has some 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. There are notes of ripe berries, blackberries and a touch of toast. It has flavors of creamy oak, herbs and ripe fruit. (LG)

  Bright ruby-red. More medicinal on the nose than the Signature Cabernet, showing slightly reduced aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate. Very intense and alive, with surprising acidity and sexy chalky mineral lift giving the wine terrific inner-mouth tension (the pH of this Altamira wine is a moderate 3.5--lower than that of the Cabernet Sauvignon). Finishes with suave, broad tannins and touch of charcoal. This sexy wine should age gracefully and is a splendid value. (ST)

  Susana Balbo continuously proves why she is such an important wine maker, not just in Argentina, but in new world wine production as a whole. She gets more out of a $20 bottle than most wine makers can out of bottles twice that. The nose here is elegant, full of fresh flowers, sweet candied fruit, and dark savory earth that meld together in a cohesive bouquet. The palate mirrors the nose with just a touch brighter fruit and a zipping acid that help balance out the softer notes. She continues to impress and you would do well to give her wines even more attention!

  If ever I need to explain why Susana Balbo is such a celebrated winemaker, I simply point to this wine. Dark, perfumed, and voluptuous, it might appear at first sniff to be a dense beast of a wine. Not so: silky tannin, exquisite fruit, and high-toned acid paint a perfect picture of Mendoza Malbec that is at once easily approachable yet remarkably refined. Endlessly drinkable, this is one you'll want to revisit again and again.

  Incredibly elegant nose with black fruits, spice and sour plum. The palate on this is full and rich, soft and plush with just a hint of sweetness. Clean, powerful and velvety smooth this is a totally sexy glass of wine.

  Susana Balbo is an icon in the wine world. For almost as long as I have worked in the industry her wines have been some of the first that I would recommend from Argentina. Balance and purity are the two adjectives that jump to mind first when thinking about her wines. This could be one of the finest Malbecs that I have ever tried from this Iconic brand. It is aromatic, dark fruits, balanced with really fine oak spices with floral and earthy tones to lift and deepen. This wine is polished but not flashy. The tannins are present but soft and frame along with with the really fine oak the beautiful ripe fruit. There is nothing Sauvage about this wine. It is unmistakeable Mendoza Malbec, but it could be the finest one you have ever tried for the money.
