Bold in texture and flavor, this wine offers toasty, lightly smoky aromas that segue to vanilla, toasted almond and baked apple flavors. The pinpoint bubbles tighten the texture just a bit for good balance before a creamy midpalate and finish take over. (JG)

Fairly subtle but very nicely focused on lemon-tinged cherries in the nose with a welcome touch of autolysis lending a certain mannerly richness that is reiterated in its slightly fruitier-than-promised flavors, this neatly tailored, incessantly effervescent Blanc de Noirs pulls back a bit with respect to assertive yeastiness and is, from initial nosing to its lingering finish, a wine that, as it has in past vintages, opts for refinement over intensity.
Ripe strawberry flavors infuse this sparkler, a blend of Pinot Noir (81 percent) and Chardonnay. Some spicy, grapefruit-like acidity provides a bitter contrast to that soft red fruit.
