The 2016 Gewürztraminer from Maison Trimbach is a lovely example of this varietal in today’s age of global warming. The wine has been fermented quite dry, but consequently comes in at fourteen percent octane, but still retains good precision and complexity. The classic nose jumps from the glass in a blend of lychee nut, apple, rosewater, a touch of spiced meats, lovely minerality and plenty of upper register spice tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and muscular in personality, with a fine core of fruit, good acids and a long, focused and ripe finish. This carries its alcohol quite well, but at fourteen percent, it will probably best drunk in its relative youth.
Bright yellow. Perfumed grapefruit and rose petal on the enticing nose. Then bright and juicy, revealing a savory twist to delicate tropical fruit and floral flavors that boast very good inner-mouth perfume.
