This is the second vintage of the Muns Vineyard bottling. The 2016 Pinot Noir Muns Vineyard aged 17 months in 30% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby, it gives up bright aromas of orange peel, fresh cranberries, macerated strawberries, raspberries and blackberries with accents of woodsmoke, underbrush, cured meats and dried tree bark. The palate is light to medium-bodied and delicate with earth-laced fruits, a sturdy frame and great freshness, finishing long and lifted. (EB)

A new offering in this range the 2016 Pinot Noir Muns Vineyard is a pretty, understated wine for the Santa Cruz Mountains. Bright red berry fruit, crushed flowers, mint, chalk and white pepper are all beautifully delineated in a mid-weight, brisk Pinot endowed with terrific energy. The 2016 is deceptive in its somewhat reticent feel, and yet it offers terrific persistence and fine balance. The 20% whole clusters are nicely integrated. (AG)
