The 2015 les Perrières chez Méo is simply stunning. The bouquet delivers a superb blend of red and black cherries, blood orange, gamebird, outstanding minerality, raw cocoa and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and sappy, with lovely focus and balance, fine-grained tannins and a very long, energetic finish. This is dynamite Nuits in the making, but some patience will be required! (Drink between 2023-2060) 93+
(these vines are more than 60 years old): Bright red-ruby. Restrained aromas of medicinal black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate. A bit less exuberant than the Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes that preceded it in my tasting, but still dense, ripe and sweet in the style of the year. Finishes with firm tannins and good framing minerality. These vines were picked at the beginning of the harvest, while the Argillats was picked near the end. (ST)
The 2015 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Perrières has a clean and precise bouquet, a touch of orange sorbet and licorice - aromatics that become floral as it opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry, fine acidity but just feels a little 'chunky' on the finish where I was seeking more finesse. Good substance though and it should find more grace with time. (NM)
