The 2017 Pinot Noir Foss Vineyard is pliant, juicy and forward, all of which make it easy to drink and enjoy pretty much upon release. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice all add to the wine's dark profile. (AG)

With an amplified sense of density and richness apparent from the outset, this comparatively full-bodied working ups the ante in substance while remaining insistently focused on black cherries and ripe berries and is filled out by a fine measure of well-considered oaky sweetness. It is one of the bigger wines in the Williams Selyem’s Pinot portfolio, but it never threatens to be too much of a good thing, and its imposing depth is a sure guarantor of good things ahead. Allow for at least three or four years of age here and anticipate very positive growth for a good half-dozen and more.

Subtle wood influence is present on the mostly plum and dark currant-scented nose where background hints of spice and violet add breadth. Here too there is a refined mouthfeel to the acceptably concentrated medium weight flavors that possess fine intensity and delineation, all wrapped in a dusty, refreshing
and moderately austere finish. This is also sufficiently tightly wound and compact as to require at least some patience.
