Proof that Colli Senesi deserves more attention and respect, this is a superb, classically-drinking Chianti. Generous strawberry and dark cherry fruit are balanced effortlessly with fragrant herbs and dry, woody tannins. This would pair perfectly with all manner of food — pizza, parmigiana, puttanesca — but I find myself craving a home-made meat sauce. This is a strong contender for the best value-for-money that Italian wine has to offer.
