This barrel comes from our trip way back in April. It's taken nearly a quarter of a year to get this barrel out of Kentucky, but was worth the wait. This is one of those barrels that we immediately jumped on. One tiny sip is all it took for us to put our team to agree that this cask was top tier. It also happens to be one of these very short casks, which can always be dicey. We wouldn't have known it was short though because it didn't exhibit any of the hallmark characteristics of a short cask. Instead of bitter or tannic, we have rich maple syrup, exotic woods, tobacco leaf, roasted stone fruit and whiffs of bitter cocoa powder. On the palate its chewy and nutty with a big heaping pile of spice framing a sweet core of ripe grain and orchard fruit. Distilled on 11/21/2008 and aged in warehouse GG before being bottled on June 27th, 2019. This special cask only turned out 120 bottles.
