A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Merlot and Malbec. Dense, silken-textured wine with dark berry, cedar, liquorice, subtle floral and spicy oak flavours. A firmly-structured wine with obvious cellaring potential.

Following the magnificent 2013 rendition, this is another brilliant offering under this label. Youthful yet completely harmonious and delectable. Aromas of cassis, dark plum, blueberry and game with nuances of bay leaf, cedar and floral on the nose. The palate is concentrated and intense, but not heavy, and delivers fine texture and awesome fruit purity, beautifully framed by chalky tannins.

At almost half Cabernet Franc (49%), this is slightly leafier than what most producers are pulling out of the Gimblett Gravels. The balance is Cabernet Sauvignon (39%), with small amounts of Merlot (9%) and Malbec (3%). The tobacco, chocolate and cassis notes are carried by medium body and a firm, dry texture. (JC)
