Nalle wines show Zinfandel’s nobility. The variety’s natural blackcurrant and raspberry fruit exuberance is tamed by early picking, yielding bright acidity for long ageing. Its earthiness (combined with 5% each of Petite Sirah and Carignan) harmonises with roses and herbs. (JC)

Nalle is a family-run operation in Dry Creek Valley. Wine country sightseers may know them for their landmark Quonset hut-style cellar, which is situated amid old vines and covered in rosemary bushes, while fans of lower-alcohol Zinfandel know them for their consistent wine style.
