93% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 1% each of malbec and petit verdot, matured for 14 months in French barriques (67% new). Elegance personified, no compromise likewise. Then rack up extraordinary attention to detail, and the Wilyabrup district, the greatest part of the Margaret River. Given these parameters, the fluid grace of this beautiful wine might seem almost inevitable. But, of course, it's not - it's the distillation of two generations.
Deep purple/red colour, with a lovely, elegant blueberry, violet aroma, the palate likewise refined and beautifully flavoured, a medium to full-body, elegance and harmony. The tannins are abundant and add great structure. Oak is nigh invisible. An impressive and cellarworthy wine. (Huon Hooke, The Real Review)
Good spring rains were followed by warm conditions, and the grapes were harvested between 18 February and 9 March. The wine was aged for 14 months in French oak, 67% new. The year has produced an elegant red wine with lifted violets and well integrated cedar and fruit spice to its fresh black currants, berries and plum. The gently ruffled tannins - fine but dynamic - carry a long finish, with subtle, savoury nori nuances: a hint of the sea.
