An almost-perfect growing season in 2018 produced a larger-than-average crop of beautifully balanced fruit. The wine spent 11 months in 20% new French oak and it opens with Zin spice, leading to black cherries and dark plums and finishing with long, lingering notes of anise and dried herbs. (JC)
Wild blueberries and blue plums with violets and nicely placed oak influence that adds spicy, youthful allure. The palate has a super juicy and quiet detailed feel, plenty of ripe blue-fruit flesh and a weighty, attractively rich feel. Drink or hold.
A zesty and plump red, with wild berry, toasted sage and cracked pepper flavors that build layers toward polished tannins. (TF)
Healthy, well-ripened blackberry fruit puts this one on very solid varietal footing from the first sniff, and the wine's dense aromas and extracted flavors gradually deepen and expand as it sits in the glass. Full and sturdy and still a bit brooding, this is a Zinfandel that, despite very capably handling its fruity duties, comes with enough pronounced tannin to make a strong case for three or four years of further keeping. *One Star*
