2018 Decanter World Wine AwardsSappy and long on the introduction, the wine glides with firm tannin guy across through a carpet of blackberries, cherries, herbs, mint, flowers, minerals and dark cassis. There's more than enough stuffing and structure to suggest that this will continue to improve for the next decade.

Saturated bright ruby. A note of raisiny ripeness to the aromas of redcurrant, dark cherry, licorice, pepper and spices. Plush, slightly herbal, fine-grained wine with lovely sweetness and some torrefaction oak notes from the 100% new oak. Very Cabernet in its herbal/chocolatey character but doesn't convey quite the harmonious ripeness, fruit sweetness or class of the Malbec. Finishes savory, energetic and firmly tannic, with lingering chocolate and herb notes and sneaky rising persistence. This wine, too, should develop gracefully in bottle. (ST) 90+
