The 2015 “Atavus Vineyard” Rosé from Analemma is comprised entirely of pinot noir and is a very delicate, pale salmon color. The wine wafts from the glass in a fine nose of melon, dried roses, a touch of tangerine, gentle spice tones and a very nice dollop of soil. On the palate the wine is medium-full, crisp and savory, with a lovely core, bright acids, fine focus and grip and a fairly complex, very long and classy finish. This is a serious bottle of Rosé that cries out for food (particularly salmon), rather than being served as an aperitif.

Pale orange-pink. Ripe, restrained strawberry aroma complicated by a wild, nutty, leesy element. Supple, broad and dry, offering considerable palate presence and body but very delicate red berry fruit flavors. Finishes savory, smooth and persistent. A bit like a fat, slightly off-dry Champagne without the bubbles owing to its nutty brioche character, this substantial rosé should be flexible at the dinner table. (ST)
