Jason Wilson writes: "Situated 180 meters above sea level, Château de Pellehaut has been a working farm for nearly 400 years. Today, the château’s 530 hectares are run by brothers Martin and Mathieu Béraut. The brothers grow vines on about 300 hectares of the property, most of it for wine production but enough Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche for Armagnac. In fact, Pellehaut is one of only two estates in Ténarèze that grow Folle Blanche. My first introduction to Pellehaut was through a lovely bright and floral 10-year-old bottling of 100% Folle Blanche about a decade ago. I wish that Pellehaut’s importer carried a deeper selection of their vintages and blends in its portfolio, which at the moment seems mostly focused on cocktail pours for mixologists."
