Over 20 years ago, founding partner Thomas Stolpman discovered what they believe to be one of the greatest viticultural sites on earth. Hidden in the hills of California’s Central Coast, on a rare limestone outcropping & unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this unique land is ideally suited to grow Rhone grapes. At Stolpman, they are committed to preserving this natural environment for their vines through natural farming, dry farming, & sustainable employment. In the winery, they prefer native fermentation & minimal manipulation. Winery note: " This brilliant red the wine sings, shrieks, zips, screams, from the nose through the finish. The sexiest rendition of Grenache to come off the estate since we started bottling the varietal in 2006. A lighter, delicate shade of red spells pure prettiness. The central drive of ripe strawberries is complimented by a tinge of dried cranberries and spice. Silky smooth textures - via careful, delicate extraction in the winery. This comes from 22-25 year old vines on our estate, is fermented 50% whole cluster in concrete tank with native yeast and is matured entirely in neutral 500L Ermitage puncheons."
