A subtle hint of tangerine on the nose dissipates to leave ripe lemon brightness. The palate is concentrated, juicy and fresh, brimming with lemon-edged Mirabelle fruitiness. Chalky depth anchors everything in coolness despite the ripe, rounded vintage. (AK)

Clean and balanced, this white offers white peach, apple and floral aromas and flavors. A hint of mineral graces the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2023. (BS)

Notes of quinine, petrol, tidal pool and a variety of citrus elements precede the equally energetic medium weight flavors that are once again markedly saline on the moderately dry and lingering finish. This is actually pretty good and while it's not quite as interesting as the domaine version, it's still worth checking out.

The 2018 Chablis Champs Royaux (négoce) was also only recently bottled, but it's showing well, offering up aromas of white peach and spring flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, tangy palate with a fleshy core and a saline finish. This is a solid effort that will drink well young.
As I wrote last year, fresh, tensile wines that are classical in style have been the watchword at the 78-hectare Domaine William Fèvre for more than a decade. The domaine's own grapes are hand harvested, with the exception of the Petit Chablis, and are fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and used barrels sourced from Bouchard Père & Fils, depending on the cuvée. After five or six months, the wine that fermented in wood is also racked to stainless steel to continue its élevage on the lees. Even at this early stage, the 2018s look like a success, and director Didier Séguier and his team richly deserve all the accolades they've received for achieving such consistent quality on such an important scale. The 2017s, revisited from bottle, go from strength to strength, and several showed so well that I was compelled to revise upward the scores that I published at the beginning of this year. (WK)

The 2018 Chablis Champs Royaux is a delicious village-level wine from William Fèvre. Pliant and generous with terrific depth, the 2018 is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next few years. The Champs Royaux is a blend of Fèvre's top lots of négociant fruit; almost all of the wine is made from purchased fruit. (AG)
