Greenish-yellow color. Pungent aromas of nectarine, apricot, lime and quinine, with a fusel note adding complexity. Then supple and dry (actually lower in residual sugar than the "basic" riesling, at eight grams per liter), but without quite the complexity or brightness of the regular release. A tad dry-edged on the finish. (Incidentally, the 2007 version of this wine, which was even lower in residual sugar, was very impressive at the end of July, conveying strong soil tones, terrific lift and a powerful impression of extract.)
