It isn't often that a winery's SRP, or "suggested retail price," is about the same as the great prices that we can offer, or in the case of bigger brands, elsewhere in the retail market. Often, they're a good $5 higher at the winery. But Husch lists their 2018 Chardonnay for just $15. That's just the kind of winery they are. Still family-owned in Mendocino's Anderson Valley, Husch has been producing Sauvignon Blanc since 1980. They source this wine from their partners down the hill in between Ukiah and Hopland. Although here, it's not called the Russian River Valley appellation, La Ribera vineyard sits, indeed, right by the Russian River. Winery notes: "Our 2018 Chardonnay highlights its purity of fruit, balance and traditional production techniques in every glass. Meandering layered aromas and flavors of white stone fruit, green apple, Meyer lemon and Bosc pear are beautifully framed. This well-structured wine is rich on the palate, sustained by its natural acidity and a light dollop of toasted oak. Delightful on its own, but also embraces the company of foods such as lemon pepper chicken, grilled pork loin, simply prepared dorado, shrimp kebabs, and roasted eggplant."
