In this tasting, the 2016 reminds me of the 2013, but with more fruit slightly friendlier tannins, both of which make it a real pleasure to taste, even in the early going. From a fantastic vintage, vineyard and winemaker, this small-production offering sings in cedar, pencil shavings and dried herb de Provence. Dusty mineral components ride beneath a core of black currant and olive, the tannin and oak profile measured and well-integrated, leaving ample room for classic elegance and structure to speak. (VB)

Then the rich, but finely nuanced palate slowly opens up its spicy secrets. There’s a ton of tannins in here, but they’re beautifully crafted and give the wine serious complexity.
