The 2013 Fianchetto is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc. Coming all from the XL Vineyard in Walla Walla, which is in the southern part of the appellation, its deep ruby/purple tinged color is followed by a great bouquet of black raspberries, scorched earth, black cherries, roasted herbs and graphite. Rich, full-bodied, beautifully balanced and layered, with ripe, yet present tannin, it's a structured 2013 that will benefit from short term cellaring, and has 15-20 years of longevity. It's a beautiful wine. (JD) 94+
Deep ruby-red. Slightly inky aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, licorice, bitter chocolate, black pepper and violet. Very densely packed and utterly fine-grained wine but less open to inspection today than most of the Rasa 2014s. Shows a briary note and comes across as a bit youthfully spiky, with an obvious oakiness and an impression of firm acidity. This rather sophisticated wine is more saline than sweet and still needs time in bottle to expand. Naravane held it back at the winery for an additional year. (ST) 92+
This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (67%), Merlot (26%) and Cabernet Franc. It's aromatically expressive, with notes of raspberry, cigar box, mint, café au lait, blackberry, dried herb, anise and wet gravel. The palate displays a sense of elegance and refinement that captures the attention, with red-fruit flavors lingering on the long (slightly warm) finish. (SS)
