"A fresh Californian take on the apéritif. Made with crisp lemon and subtle elderflower." Haus is a new boutique "farm-to-bottle" apéritif brand from Woody Hambrecht and Helena Price Hambrecht. The wine base is made from organically grown Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Chardonnay that is naturally fermented, fortified with locally sourced grape spirit, and infused with home-grown Meyer lemons, botanicals, as well as some high-quality purchased ingredients. They aim to create a complex apéritif that's less bitter, but also less sweet, than some of the traditional European versions you may have tried. The result is complex, but real, a handcrafted beverage that is "easy to sip on its own, in a spritz, or mixed with soda or tonic for a simple cocktail."
