Winery notes: "Skylark is a micro-small winery operation spearheaded by two wine industry veterans cum San Francisco taste makers: John Lancaster and Rob Perkins. Together they built the wine program at the venerable Boulevard Restaurant. The Red Belly is their ode to the South of France where blending varietals to achieve the perfect synergy is the way of life. 2015 Red Belly is a composition of two Carignane sites in Redwood Valley - their old friend Niemi vineyard and the addition of 100 year old vines from Casa Verde Vineyard, a ¼ mile to the south of Niemi. Lawer Vineyard in Knights Valley is the Syrah element which adds depth and power to the final blend. The final piece of the puzzle is Grenache from Charlie Sawyer's vineyard above Ukiah, adding florals and that silky, spiced red cherry fruit."
