Les Poisets is nicely located near the fine premier cru Les Cailles. Hail reduced yields to a trifling 14 hl/ha this year. The raspberry-scented nose is pungent but ripe. suave and concentrated, it has firm but ripe tannins, and plenty of energy. Perky acidity keeps it fresh on the finish, which is textured and persistent. Nuits can sometimes be rustic, but not here. Drinking Window 2021 - 2032. (SB)

From the south of the commune—just below primer premier cru Les Cailles—comes the 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Poisets, a rich and powerful wine that offers up notes of ripe red fruits, peonies, sweet soil tones and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied and muscular but velvety, it's underpinned by lively acids and concludes with chalky grip. Due to hail, this parcel yielded only 14 hectoliters per hectare this year. (WK)

Moderate reduction flattens the underlying fruit at present. Otherwise there is good volume, punch and detail to the appealingly textured flavors that possess a pliant mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the raspy tannins shaping the lingering finish.

The 2018 Nuit Saint-Georges Les Poisets comes from 0.7 hectares that this year produced just five barrels due to hail (14hl/ha). The nose feels a little disjointed at the moment, missing the focus that imbues Lachaux’s other 2018s. It needs to find more harmony during its élevage. The palate is medium-bodied with wild strawberry and cranberry fruit, firm tannins and a very pretty, pure finish that maybe just misses the length of other recent vintages I have tasted. (NM)
