  The 2018 Morey Saint-Denis En la Rue Vergy has a well-defined, slightly earthy bouquet, the whole-bunch fruit imparting distinct peppery notes, but it becomes leafier with aeration. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and seamlessly integrated oak toward the finish. This should evolve into an exquisite En la Rue Vergy.

  Here too the nose is pure, elegant and airy with a cool array of red pinot fruit, rose petal and background hints of spice and in particular anise. The racy, intense and equally pure middle weight flavors display excellent cut and ample minerality that really comes up on the youthfully austere but impressively persistent finish. Good stuff and especially so for its level.
