A pretty and cool nose combines notes of Vosne-style spice with those of plum and violet scents. The medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing mouthfeel as well as a touch of minerality on the attractively textured finale that offers good if not special depth and persistence. This should drink well on the younger side if preferred.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village bursts with aromas of rich cassis, plums and spices, framed by toasty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with melting tannins and a supple, easygoing profile. This will drink well young.
The 2017 vintage—the eleventh for this new carnation of the erstwhile Domaine Engel—is a success for Domaine d'Eugénie and the energetic Michel Mallard, delivering supple, expressive and seductive wines that are true to their underlying appellations. (WK)
