Allen Meadows writes: "Lalou Bize-Leroy was away at the time of my visit and I was greeted instead by Gilles Desprez who ably conducted the tasting. He explained that M. Bize had asked him to convey her views of the 2017 vintage as 'it's a vintage that is built on its fruit but it's also one that should drink well young yet age well too. The trick was to have adequate ripeness and the only way to do that was to control yields. We picked from the 4th to the 9th of September and brought in yields of between 19 and 20 hl/ha with potential alcohols that averaged right at 13.5%. We our usual vinifications and really, nothing else changed relative to our normal approach. There's a tenderness to the 2017s that should make them appeal to everyone.'"
