This estate makes a brilliant white, and the 2018 Falaise Blanc is no exception. Based on Chardonnay, Marsanne, Petite Manseng, and Sauvignon Gris, its lighter gold hue is followed by a fresh yet also textured white that offers up lots of pineapple and white currant fruits as well as notes of toasted bread, crushed rock, spice, and a touch of flowers. Elegant, with good acidity and building richness, it’s geared for the dinner table and should keep for 4-5 years, probably longer.

Predominantly Marsanne and Chardonnay, which makes it ineligible for the Languedoc appellation, the 2018 IGP Pays d'Oc la Falaise Blanche received three days of skin contact before being pressed to barrel for fermentation and aging. Subtle notes of toasted marshmallow and grilled white peaches appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky textured, finishing with plenty of length. It should drink well for a few years. (JC)
