Ripe, fresh and nicely layered aromas are comprised mostly by various red berries and soft earth nuances. There is both good volume and verve to the relatively fine and attractively textured flavors that terminate in a mildly rustic and warm finish. This is really quite good for its level and worth checking out. *Outstanding, Top Value*
Gilles Lafouge observed that his vines for his Bourgogne “Côte d’Or” are located in Pommard and he really likes the location of these vines and how they responded to the challenging conditions of 2018. The wine is very, very good for its level, offering up a vibrant nose of cherries, quince, a complex base of soil, gamebird and a hint of roses in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, long and soil-driven in personality, with good length and grip and just a touch of tannin perking up the long finish.
The 2018 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir is showing very well, revealing a sweet bouquet of plums, raspberries and cherries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's supple and mouthfilling. This is a charming wine that will drink well young. (WK)
