Domaine Begude is a small, family-owned property located high in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the Limoux region of the Languedoc. The long, cool growing season lends itself perfectly to the production of crisp and delicate wines, all organically certified by Ecocert. This is a zippy and bright Chardonnay, with citrus, apple and pear notes underlined by a refreshing minerality.

Limoux is probably best known for its Cremant appellation sparkling wines but our friends at Domaine Begude never fully embraced that category. They have been (mostly) content to make terrific organically farmed and purely varietal wines with beautiful character. The Terroir 11300 is a pristine and vibrant chardonnay fermented in stainless steel tanks and rested for a few months in second and third use 500L barrels. This gives the wine the whisper of spice and carmelized apple fruit that makes it so darn appealing. The 11300 in the title refers to the local zip code that is Limoux and is a nod to the surrounding appellation. For those looking for the purity of chardonnay but without overt oak tones, this is a superb value to embrace.
