Intense aromas and luscious succulence of ripe pear and white peach are wreathed in lily-of-the-valley and tinged with pit and seed piquancy as well as with marzipan and anise. Polish and subtle creaminess add to the midpalate allure of pure-fruited concentration and inner-mouth perfume. The generous finish is soothing and subtly honeyed. Compared with the corresponding Kabinett, the fruit personality here strikes me as less typical of Bernkastel, but the wine’s textural allure and overall richness are reminiscent of many top Rieslings from that village. 91 points Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2018er Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spätlese offers a rather backward and delicate nose of melon, passion fruit, floral elements, whipped cream, and smoky elements. The wine comes over as suave and beautifully playful on the palate. While ripe, the wine remains complex and extremely subtle right into the long and suave finish. A touch of sweetness still needs to melt away in the refined and intense after-taste. 2028-2048. (10/2019)"
