There's a refreshingly tart boysenberry perfume on the nose here, but the palate of this full-bodied, forward red is ample and ripe. Flavors of blueberry and fig preserve are plush and juicy but held upright by taut, persistent tannins. (AI)
A co-fermented blend of Grenache and Syrah made and aged in concrete, the 2018 Vacqueyras begins with hints of road tar, but quickly adds notes of leather, earth, olives, and cherries. The result is reasonably complex and savory, medium to full-bodied on the palate, yet silky and elegant in feel. It's a charming wine to drink over the next 5-6 years. (JC)
