Tasting Notes

Located just South of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive southerly white wine commune of the Côte-d'Or. Surprisingly enough for an appellation of this quality, no Grand Cru exists, however the high quality of the Premier Cru more then compensates for this. The ideal southerly exposure and the Jurassic limestone-based soil of the Poruzot contribute to the growing of ripe, fruity clusters. The wine has a rich, nutty, buttery, elegant bouquet followed by mouth-filling fruit flavours and a long aftertaste. "Poruzots" is the diminutive of "Porroux" meaning "stony place", which well describe the soil of this climate.

    The Poruzots comes across a bit "mature" than the others in the line up. There is a freshness of the sunshine citrus that approaches tangerine, kumquat and orange zest category on the nose. There is an agreeable amount of reduction that follows on the tail end giving it a weighted and lush mouthfeel. The acidity is perfect, balanced and overall a wine that is a treat to savor at your leisure.

    Golden hue in the glass this wine has a brilliant nose of spirit gum, mixed nuts, cheese rind and lemon curd. The palate slowly unwinds to reveal honeyed fruits, marzipan and bitter citrus flavors. A classically-aged white Burgundy that screams out for a cheese plate.
