La Neta is legit. Literally, it is Mexican slang for "off the hook" or "absolutely great." And this mezcal is aptly named. One of the foremost brands in trying to cultivate strong relationships with their producers, protecting the heritage and culture of the mezcaleros in Oaxaca, and making sure that the people making these incredible products actually get paid! This bottling is made by a small group of mezcaleros known as Grupo Logoche - a co-op made up of 11 men and one woman who have all been making Mezcal their whole lives in Lachiguizo, Miahuatlan. Each batch is made collectively. Every member contributes a share of their time, expertise, and ripe agave. Cooked in traditional underground conical oven, the agave is left to cool after a 4-5 cooking time and crushed by machete and mechanical mill. Fermented in sabino (Montezuma Cypress) open air tanks in 1000-1200L batches then distilled on 3 different copper pot stills. The nose has a crazy banana chip note and the texture is super rich and full.
