100% Carmenère. Vines 23 years old. Sedimentary soils of alluvial origin with gravel and clayey texture. Mediterranean climate. Cold soaking for 4 days. Fermented in open vats. Aged for a year in 75% used oak barrels and 25% in untoasted foudres. Then, aged in bottle for 8 months more. Deep colour layer, very vegetal, smoky, intense and very aromatic. Lots of richness, ultra-ripe tannin, the characteristic vigour of Carmenère. Modern style with sweet tannins and flavour richness. Black fruit a bit grilled. Very well made, with extraction but maintaining its drinkability. Chinese ink in my glass. (FC)
The 2017 Gran Reserva Carmenere was produced with fruit from Maule and has a varietal nose of herbs and spices and a medium-bodied palate with integrated oak and fine tannins. It follows the (new) style of Gran Reserva line. (LG)
Ripe, with peppery accents to the roasted plum and raspberry tart flavors, featuring meaty notes. Dark chocolate, smoke and tar details show on the tannic finish. (KM)
