K&L Notes

The new project by Bruichladdich front man Mark Reynier is an exercise in extreme terroir (or TÉIREOIR in Gaelic). Using barley grown on one specific farm the Single Farm Origin series offer an uber-provenance experience exploring the significance of place in barley and whiskey production. These intentionally spirit forward whiskies are completely unadulterated - no coloring, chill-filtration or any additives whatsoever. Farmer Ned Murphy's Dunbell Farm (Dún Bile, edge fort) lies east of the River Nore in County Kilkenny. The site of a 5th century monastery, Tullaherin’s round tower, where monks landed to convert the local Osraige people and was likely chosen for the deep loamy soils created via glacial drift of limestone, sandstone & shales. Aged in a the following barrels before bottling at 100 proof: 33% first-fill US oak, 22% virgin US oak, 26% premium French oak and 19% Vin Doux Naturel. Each bottle of Single Farm Origin: Dunbell Edition 1.1 has a TÉIREOIR code, which offers an unparalleled level of bottling information on the barley, maps, imagery and even audio from the farms. TÉIREOIR CODE: F022E01-01 (all zeros)
