A complex range of citrus, stone fruits and tropical fruits on the nose. This has plenty of appeal, freshness and energy. The palate delivers a smooth, crunchy and composed array of mineral-flecked apple, lemon and white peach.
Delicate whiffs of spice, vanilla and toast persist from nose to finish in this lavish but well-balanced wine. It's full bodied and silky, with concentrated fresh apple and yellow plum flavors. Fresh acidity and savory hints of smoked nuts and dried herbs lend elegance as it persists. (AI)
Inviting, with a creamy range of white peach, honeysuckle, green almond and yellow apple flavors streaming through, gilded with salted butter and verbena details on the finish. Glistens nicely. (JM)
Pale gold. High-pitched citrus and pit fruit aromas, along with suggestions of pungent flowers, fennel and honey. Concentrated orange, nectarine and marzipan flavors are braced by a spine of juicy acidity that adds back-end cut. Concentrated yet lively as well, showing excellent clarity and minerally thrust on the finish, which lingers with strong, floral-tinged persistence. (JR)
The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc leans towards the leaner end of the spectrum, with vibrant acidity in its apple blossom and citrus aromas and flavors. It's nicely balanced on the palate and its notable freshness and purity should allow it to age gracefully. This vintage is a blend of 52% Grenache Blanc, 35% Roussanne and 13% Clairette that was brought up in a mix of older barrels and stainless steel.
52% Grenache Blanc, 35% Roussanne, 13% Clairette. There's an apricot character not dissimilar to Condrieu here, with lovely herby freshness on the palate and full body. Moderate length, but enough concentration to suggest more is to come with bottle age. Nice spicy note right at the last. (RH)
