A touch of fresh bay leaf, wet earth and musk rose combine to make a very enticing intriguing nose. The resolutely dry palate carries these lovely aromatics with zesty freshness and lovely zesty texture that is reminiscent of grapefruit peel. It is its abiding freshness that makes this stand out. Pale straw-green. Perfumed aromas of minty chlorophyll, grapefruit, lemon verbena and lime. Then pure, clean and racy, featuring saline flavors of green fruit, fresh citrus and delicate spices. Long and very clean on the subtle finish, which features surprising backbone (that’s the Muscat d’Alsace). This is in fact mainly Muscat d’Alsace, with very little Muscat Ottonel present due to coulure-related problems, which typically nails Muscat Ottonel in difficult springs. Knockout entry-level Muscat. These grapes are picked in two different parcels (one extremely old, planted by Olivier’s father right after the war). (ID) 90+

There's good drive to this dry Muscat, with flavors of blood orange granita, apricot and basil layered with snappy acidity and stony minerality. (AN)

From the valley floor around Turckheim, the 2015 Alsace Muscat Turckheim is 90-95% Muscat d'Alsace (red and white Muscat à petites grains) blended with Muscat Ottonel. It is a medium to full-bodied, dry and vital white with the classic aromatic grape flavors of Muscat intermixed with mineral and herbal flavors. The finish is well structured, dry and expressive, and the alcohol of 12.33% plus 2.1 grams of residual sugar are rather moderate. (SR)
