The famous Oaxacan Mezcaleria In Situ has one of the best selections of rare mezcal in the world. Curated Ulises Torrentera, his vision for the future of mezcal is unique. He's cultivated access to some of the finest and most unique expressions in Oaxaca and now offers them to the American market under the Farolito brand. This unusual mezcal is distilled at the Farolito facility on clay pots by Alberto Montes from plants harvested in Nochixtlan. The Agave in questions is known locally as "Horno" it would likely be called Arroqueno elsewhere in Oaxaca. Using traditional ovens, hand crushed, wooden tank fermented and distilled on small clay pots. The resulting spirit is utterly divine. Restrained without losing any complexity, it's richly textured with notes of sweet poached fruit and deep herbal aromatics. All the Farolito products come with the disclaimer, "For Sacred Consumption Only, All Excess Is Profane."
