The famous Oaxacan Mezcaleria In Situ has one of the best selections of rare mezcal in the world. Curated Ulises Torrentera, his vision for the future of mezcal is unique. He's cultivated access to some of the finest and most unique expressions in Oaxaca and now offers them to the American market under the Farolito brand. This unusual mezcal is distilled at the Farolito facility on clay pots by Valentin Cruz from plants harvested in Zimatlan. The Agave in questions is known locally as "Penca Azul" but the specific varietal was not known at the time of distillation. Using traditional ovens, hand crushed, wooden tank fermented and distilled on small clay pots. The spirit is exquisite and undeniably one of the best mezcals on the shelf today. Packed full of earthy herbal flavors, citrus and a sweet floral element that keeps it balanced. All the Farolito products come with the disclaimer, "For Sacred Consumption Only, All Excess Is Profane."
