If the name Jaboulet sounds familiar to you, yet you're wondering how it made its way onto a Burgundy label, your instincts are correct. This domaine was founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet, eventually amassing vines in both Rhône and Burgundy. Upon his death the vineyards passed onto his sons. One of them, Paul, stayed in the Rhône to carry on his father's work there, ultimately building it into one of the three most recognizable names in northern Rhône wine. The other son, Henri, ventured north to Burgundy and merged his vines with those of his wife (née Vercherre). The resulting domaine had (has) vineyard holdings in a number of premiers and grands crus from which they made classically styled wines of substance and finesse.
