Ripe, powerful and aristocratic, packing tremendous berry, pepper and cream flavors onto a remarkably elegant structure. Youthful and vibrant, it glows and echoes with flavor and yet feels restrained. Cellar it some more, if you can keep your hands off. (HS)
Amazingly young and almost Priorat'esk, the 1994 Rosemount Estate Syrah Balmoral has a ripe, rich nose of oak, black currant, campfire, brambly herbs and subtle vanilla notes. While there's lots of wood, there's also lots of fruit and this is really enjoyable. The palate is medium to full bodied, with nice depth, pure, sweet fruit and a clean, long finish. I'm still amazed how young this showed and I'd love to try this again in 5 years to see how (or if) the oak integrates.
Strong red-purple; a strikingly rich and ripe bouquet of lusciously sweet but not jammy cherry fruit interwoven with abundant spicy/charry oak. On the palate a potent and powerful mix of cherry, mint and vanillin oak; archetypal top-end South Australian Shiraz of suitably uncompromising style.
