Chunky, spicy, toasty oak and a chewy core of cherry and currant flavors; strong tannic finish. Best after 1996.
I was impressed by Barnett Vineyard's excellent Cabernet Sauvignon. These people understand great winemaking and their wine demonstrates what heights Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon can potentially attain. The 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain is among the most distinctive Cabernets I have tasted from California. It offers up an intense fragrance of violets, black-raspberries, and herbs gently touched by toasty oak. This medium to full-bodied wine is powerful, rich, and elegant, with sweet tannin, an expansive mouthfeel, and a Margaux-like stylishness and grace. Drink it over the next 15+ years. (RP)
