The bouquet is deep, complex and classic Rutherford in its mélange of red and black cherries, leather, a touch of cigar smoke, lovely, spicy, dusty soil tones, incipient notes of chipotle peppers and a fine framing of cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, complex and blossoming beautifully on the attack, with good mid-palate depth, moderate tannins and fine length and grip on the nuanced finish. A fine bottle.
Smooth, ripe and harmonious, with a supple core of currant, herb, dill and sage notes, the flavors fanning out on the finish to reveal a coffee note. The texture is silky and the finish lingers. Drinks well now, but can age.
