Leaner in profile and not quite as deep as the 1992, but nicely structured and attractive. This has a slightly more Bordeaux-like feel and balance and displays a cherry, earth, tobacco and herb bouquet. Blueberry, plum and espresso show on the even, smooth palate. It closes long with soft, ripe tannins and the herb notes atop the dark fruit.
A bottling from this winery's flagship lineup, characteristically tight and firm, with chewy tannins. The core of spicy currant, earthy anise and cedary oak flavors folds together nicely on the finish. Best cellared to make it smoother and softer. *Cellar Selection* (JL)
The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series reveals a dense ruby/purple color, loamy earth in the nose, along with reticent but ripe black currant fruit. On the palate, the wine displays high tannin, but equally rich levels of extract, glycerin, and sweet black currant fruit. (RP)
