Good deep red-ruby. Cassis, bitter chocolate, nutmeg and fresh herbs on the bright nose. Concentrated, vinous and spicy, with sweet dark berry fruit complicated by a tobacco note. Very long on the back end, with strong fruit outlasting substantial but smooth tannins.
The 1997 Zinfandel York Creek (95% Zinfandel and 5% Petite Sirah that weighs in at 15.3% alcohol) is a spice, earth, and licorice-scented wine with plenty of rustic tannin, a gritty texture, medium to full body, and deep, concentrated, muscular flavors. (RP)
Lively, with zesty cherry, blackberry and raspberry plus hints of cedar and mushroom. Finishes with complex anise, tar and spice.
