Family wineries are becoming increasingly rare in California, but Rafanelli is a true example of how the stubborn perseverance to maintain a tradition of quality winemaking has survived the pressure to take short cuts, increase production, and chase points. The Rafanelli family has been making wine in California's Dry Creek Valley since before Prohibition and have discovered how to extract wines of the highest quality from their land over generations of winemaking. The grapes for this cabernet were planted in 1986 on a steep, terraced hillside behind the winery.
