This was an incredibly dense Cabernet upon release, with super-firm tannins and a rich core of currant fruit clawing its way to the surface. Twenty years in bottle should have softened its edges, allowing the fruit to show its age with grace and a lovely, though still firm, texture. From wine writer Richard Jennings: "93 points. Medium dark red violet color; appealing, tobacco, graphite, tar, tart black fruit nose; tasty, tobacco, graphite, tar, tart black fruit palate; needs 3-plus years yet; medium-plus finish."
