The 1970s and '80s were very kind to this winery. The production of classy, yet concentrated cabernets was the model of consistency. These wines are undervalued today, as the winery has for some reason fallen under the radar of the collector. James Laube reviews this Vintage Selection in his book California's Great Cabernets: "A phenomenal 1984, firm, lean, rich and intense, with layers of concentratedplum, spice, currant and black cherry flavors offset by toasty oak. Not as fleshy as most 84's, this is an ager. The finish is long and vibrant. An intense wine that needs patience. Drink 1996-2006."
