The 1994 Olivet Lane is another pretty, juicy, but rather fruit-driven and simple pinot noir that offers up notes of black cherries, raspberries, a bit of clove and vanillin oak. There is good purity to the fruit tones, but this is decidedly uncomplex juice. On the palate the wine is medium-full, juicy and solid to the core, with a rather four-square personality, but good length and decent grip on the lush finish. It is a perfectly good bottle of California, but it does not possess the transcendental quality of may other W-S bottlings.
